Set up as a one man operation by a 21 year old Colin Rafferty in 1989, the Sofa Bed Shop manufacturers and sells sofa beds, sofas, beds, and home furniture. As the business has grown and developed over the years so has the premises. The showroom in Lower Oxford street, Hartlepool, has recently been extended from the previous 5,000 sq.ft to 10,000 sq,ft to incorporate The Cane Studio, which now boasts Teessides largest collection of cane furniture. The conservatory furniture comes from around the world, built from materials such as cane, Whicker, Seagrass, Banana Leaf, Iron, and much more.

The success of the business has been built on delivering a quality product at the right price with a first class service to customers. As manufacturing takes place within the shop, products can be made to any size to suit customer needs with over 3000 colours and fabrics to choose from. Although based in Teesside in the North-East of England, the Sofa Bed Shop offers a delivery service to virtually any location on the U.K. mainland including Leeds, Sheffield, Hull, Bradford, Nottingham, Derby, Harrogate, Huddersfield, York and Carlisle.
